The Lines… that Draw Us by Wanda Resek and Bette Lisitza

VASA Gallery presents The Lines ... that Draw Us by Wanda Resek and Bette Lisitza. Opening reception is on April 5th from 1 - 4 pm, with the exhibition running from April 1st to 25th.

This exhibition was inspired by Bette and Wanda’s common passion for one of the oldest arts to date. Drawing has been one of the most enjoyable activities in their studios, where each get lost in the lines. Both artists respect the skills and importance of producing a good drawing before proceeding with a painting. The practice and commitment to achieve a personal style is an ongoing process.

The artists work with charcoal, graphite and inks, pushing the borders with mark making, textures and rich patterns. Together, they share a common interest in their subjects of everyday objects and find an array of inspiration in their homes and gardens, drawing forth as the word implies, compositions that excite.

One must be brave to make that first line across the blank paper to feel the creativity begin. The artists would hope that their collection of work would encourage others to reach for their drawing tools, take the risk, go off the path and enjoy the process of ... finding their lines.
